The inspiration for this project is loosely based on trips made to Morro Bay, CA (hence the name To Morro) and Carlsbad, CA (where the photograph of the sunset used in the cover art was taken). There was an emphasis on the sounds of synthesizers and instruments (samples and played) as the motif for this project.

There is something really special about this album. It's refreshing and different in the best of ways. sndtrk's sample selection is varied and eclectic and while the arrangements are minimal, it doesn't sound like it. The drums are abrasive and unpredictable and just a joy to listen to. The overall production is gritty but slick - such a lovely contradiction. This feels like "nu-boom bap", if there was such a thing? Underrated! Paul WH
